Dr. Mario Tomei, MD, MBA, MHA, CHSE, is aphysician, educator, and healthcare leader with more than 25 years of experience in clinical medicine, higher education, and healthcare administration. He has dedicated over a decade to teaching and mentoring students pursuing careers in medicine and the health professions.

Dr. Tomei currently serves as a faculty member at 茄子视频, where he teaches courses including Pathophysiology, Human Physiology, Medical Microbiology, Infectious Diseases, Pharmacology, Neuroscience, Medical Terminology, and Anatomy & Physiology. His teaching philosophy emphasizes clinical reasoning, active learning, and the integration of foundational science with real-world patient care.

In addition to his role at Adelphi, Dr. Tomei was a professor at the Hofstra University/Northwell School of Graduate Nursing and Physician Assistant Studies, where he taught Cardiovascular Science and participated in simulation-based healthcare education. He is a Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) and is committed to preparing healthcare professionals through experiential learning and evidence-based educational practices.

Beyond academia, Dr. Tomei is the founder of MedTrackMentors, a physician-led advising organization dedicated to mentoring aspiring physicians and other healthcare professionals. Drawing on his experience as a former medical school admissions committee member, he has guided hundreds of students through the medical school admissions process, helping them develop competitive applications, strengthen their professional development, and successfully pursue careers in healthcare.

Dr. Tomei's professional interests include medical education, healthcare simulation, clinical reasoning, student mentorship, curriculum development, healthcare leadership, and medical school admissions. Personal Statement

As a physician, educator, and mentor, I am passionate about helping students develop the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and professionalism necessary for successful careers in healthcare. My teaching philosophy emphasizes connecting foundational science with real-world clinical practice, encouraging students to understand not only the "what" but also the "why" behind medicine.

With more than two decades of healthcare experience and over a decade in higher education, I strive to create an engaging learning environment that challenges students to think critically, communicate effectively, and approach patient care with compassion and integrity. Whether teaching pathophysiology, pharmacology, anatomy, or physiology, my goal is to prepare students to become confident healthcare professionals and lifelong learners.

Beyond the classroom, I am committed to mentoring aspiring physicians and other healthcare professionals through academic advising, medical school admissions guidance, and career development. I believe that personalized mentorship can have a lasting impact on a student's journey and professional success.

Teaching Philosophy

My teaching philosophy is grounded in helping students connect foundational scientific knowledge with its practical application to human health and patient care. Students learn most effectively when they understand not only what a concept means, but why it matters. I use clinical examples, case-based discussions, active-learning exercises, and guided questioning to help students develop critical-thinking skills and apply classroom material to realistic healthcare situations.

I strive to create a supportive, engaging, and academically rigorous learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, evaluating evidence, and learning from mistakes. Because students enter the classroom with different backgrounds, experiences, and learning needs, I use multiple instructional approaches to make complex material understandable while maintaining appropriate academic expectations.

My goal extends beyond preparing students for examinations. I want them to become thoughtful, ethical, and confident healthcare professionals who communicate effectively, approach patients with empathy, and remain committed to lifelong learning. Through clear expectations, timely feedback, mentorship, and clinically relevant instruction, I encourage students to take ownership of their education and recognize how their scientific training will influence the people they eventually serve.

Dr. Mario Tomei has participated in international humanitarian medical outreach, providing healthcare services to underserved communities throughout Latin America as part of Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders)missions.
