The 12th season of the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Performing Arts Center (Adelphi PAC) in Garden City, New York, kicks off this month with 25 cultural events taking place through December. Favorites among the community, Adelphi PAC performances include theater and a variety of styles of dance and music. Taking the stage this season are such exciting artists as illusionist Mike Super, the Paul Taylor Dance Company and Adelphi’s own talented students.

Highlights for the fall include:

Sunday,ÌýSeptember 22—Larson Legacy Concert: Andy Roninson

The Larson Legacy Concert Series at the Adelphi PAC celebrates the next generation of artists at the college home of the creator of the Pulitzer Prize-winning musicalÌýRENT, Jonathan Larson ’82. This year, the Adelphi PAC honors Andy Roninson, a composer-lyricist, orchestrator and music director in New York City. With a talented cast of vocalists, he will perform songs from his internationally acclaimed podcastÌýTake A Ten, as well as never-before-heard material from new musicals in the works.

Friday, September 27, and Friday, October 11—Taylor 2 Dance Company

The Taylor 2 Dance Company returns to the Adelphi PAC to showcase three classic works by Paul Taylor restaged for this talented company of six dancers, with completely different programs for both the September and October shows.

Tuesday, October 1, through Sunday, October 6—Pale Blue Dot(s)

The ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Department of Theatre commissioned playwright (and Adelphi alumna) Erin Mallon to write this new play for Adelphi’s theater students. The entertaining show takes place several years in the future, where an all-female astronaut team circumnavigates the globe once every 90 minutes aboard the International Space Station. When a surprise set of “everyday citizens” tags along for the ride, all protocol flies right out the proverbial airlock.

Saturday, October 12, and Sunday, October 13—Adelphi’s Best of Broadway

ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ’s own talented students perform the songs of Broadway. Enjoy both old and new well-known classics and hidden gems.

Friday, October 25—Chris Brubeck’sÌýTriple Play

Three outstanding musicians with deep musical roots come together to form Chris Brubeck’s Triple Play. Listen to the talents of Peter Madcat Ruth (on harmonica, guitar, jaw harp, percussion and vocals), Joel Brown (folk and classical acoustic guitar and vocals) and Chris Brubeck (electric bass, bass trombone, piano and vocals) during this joyous concert. The trio performs folk, blues, classical and jazz—including the work of Dave Brubeck, Chris’s father.

Tuesday, October 29, through Sunday, November 3—The Importance of Being EarnestÌýby Oscar Wilde

The classic farce by famed writer Oscar Wilde comes to the Adelphi PAC stage. Pointed wit and sharp social satire combine in a comedy of confused identities, crisscrossing lovers, desperate christenings, lost babies in handbags and some of the British theater’s most memorable language and characters.

Saturday, November 9—Mike Super Magic & Illusion

Mike Super, the winner of NBC’s hit TV showÌýPhenomenon, performed for more than six weeks onÌýAmerica’s Got TalentÌýas a top finalist and in the season premiere episode of Penn & Teller’sÌýFool Us. His show on features his unique style that has brought the art of magic back. Through spectacular illusions and his own inimitable down-to-earth style and personality, Mike Super has pioneered a new form of magic that transcends the “trick.” His many television appearances include an appearance onÌýThe Ellen DeGeneres Show. Join the journey of emotions from laughter, intrigue, danger, fear, wonder, anticipation, tears and sentimentality in this family-friendly performance.

Sunday, November 17—Greater Nassau Chorus

The award-winning Greater Nassau Chorus presents a matinee filled with contemporary music, show tunes and popular favorites under the direction of Master Director 700 Harriette Walters. The women’s barbershop chorus has been entertaining audiences with four-part a cappella music since 1960.

Friday, December 13—Paul Taylor Dance Company

The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to the Adelphi PAC again this fall season with a program of modern dance celebrating its late founder, Paul Taylor. This legacy performance is scheduled to includeÌýBrief Encounters,ÌýLast LookÌýand audience favoriteÌýEsplanade.

More Choices This Fall/Early Winter

The season runs until mid-December, with select additional events including performances byÌýAdelphi’s Symphony Orchestra,ÌýtheÌýAdelphi Jazz Ensemble, theÌýAdelphi ChoraleÌýand theÌýAdelphi Vocal EnsembleÌýin November; a concert hall screening ofÌýµþ¾±³ú±ð³Ù’²õÌý°ä²¹°ù³¾±ð²Ô; and a reading ofÌýCharles Dickens’ÌýA Christmas CarolÌýin December.
