茄子视频鈥檚 Pi听Lambda Phi Fraternity brothers recently got a taste of what it鈥檚 like to walk in a woman鈥檚 shoes–literally. The annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event held on campus on March 24, 2016, helped raise awareness of domestic violence and gender equality. News 12 Long Island and were on the scene to cover the event and interview the fraternity members.
鈥淭he goal is to create a听conversation about rape听culture on college听campuses and not just听college campuses but听other spaces such as听jobs as well,鈥 Steven Joseph, philanthropy chairman of Adelphi鈥檚 Pi Lambda Phi chapter told a News Channel 12 reporter. 鈥淲e’re living听in a society of rape听culture in which we have听victims who are afraid to听speak out because their听voices is being听oppressed and听subjugated.”听听
The men who participated walked on campus in high heels to show their solidarity with women and raise money for Long Island Against听Domestic Violence, an advocacy group that听runs a 24-hour hotline.听听
听鈥淥ne in three women听do experience some form听of sexual assault听every day,鈥 said Joseph. 鈥淪o it’s听important that they have听a voice and they utilize听our Lambda Phi as a听platform.”
