National Community Service Award

For the second year in a row, ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ was honored with theÌýÌýfor engaging students, faculty and staff in substantial, relevant and meaningful service to communities. Honorees are chosen based on a series of selection factors including scope and innovation of service projects, percentage of student participation in service activities, incentives for service, and the extent to which the school offers academic service-learning courses. The University has demonstrated a strong institutional commitment to service through various ways including the Community Fellows Program, UN programs, Freshman Community Action Program (FCAP), health awareness initiatives, and Levermore Global Scholars Program, to name a few.

ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ School of Social Work made the list inÌýU.S. News‘ 2013ÌýÌýrankings. For more than 60 years, the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ School of Social WorkÌýhas been at the forefront of preparing social workers through its B.S.W., M.S.W., and Ph.D. programs at its Garden City campus and at the Manhattan, Hauppauge, and Hudson Valley Centers. In addition, its professional education program offers a wide range of workshops and certificate programs for social workers and other human service professionals to enrich their knowledge and skills.ÌýÌýfaculty are regarded by their students as excellent teachers. They also are known nationally and internationally in their research areas and have published extensively. The curriculum enables graduates to live as informed citizens and to be educated, humane, and skillful professionals. The degree programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
