Updates:

Effective Monday, June 6, indoor masking is optional at all Adelphi locations—Garden City, Hauppauge, Hudson Valley, and Manhattan.ÌýÌý

On May 17, the CDC elevated the community transmission level for Manhattan to HIGH. Accordingly, Adelphi’s indoor mask requirement now also extends to our Manhattan Center, effective immediately, through June 6.

Dear Adelphi Community,

In the past several days, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) elevated theÌýÌý³Ù´ÇÌýHIGHÌýin New York’s Nassau, Suffolk and Dutchess counties, impacting our Garden City, Hauppauge and Hudson Valley locations.Ìý

Effective Tuesday, May 17, ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ is reinstating our indoor mask requirement for all individuals at the above-mentioned locations. This requirement will remain in place through Monday, June 6. All community members must wear a mask inside all Adelphi instructional areas, dining halls, libraries, residence hall common areas and shared office spaces.Ìý

As always, we continue to abide by the recommendations of the CDC and remain in contact with our county and state public health officials. Should official guidance change at any time before or after June 6, our Health and Wellness team will communicate an update.

Additionally, the Health and Wellness team encourages all our community members to protect themselves and others from COVID-19 infections by continuing to wear a mask indoors when not on campus—in indoor public spaces and at indoor social gatherings.

We will stronglyÌýencourageÌýmasks for all attendees of the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ indoor Commencement ceremony on Monday, May 23, andÌýrequireÌýthem for our indoor Doctoral Hooding ceremony, which is on campus on Sunday, May 22. Should Nassau County announce an indoor mask requirement for the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, masks will become mandatory for all Commencement attendees.Ìý

To date, ourÌýon-campus COVID-19 ratesÌýremain low, thanks to the diligence of our community members.ÌýDaily health screening is still requiredÌývia the mobile app for all community members before arriving at any Adelphi location through the end of this spring semester. We continue to provide free masks at campus locations listed on our website.Ìý

If you have any questions, please email healthandwellness@adelphi.edu. Thank you for your continued support of our community.Ìý

Sincerely,

Gene Palma
Vice President of University Wellness, Safety and Administration
