鈥淚鈥檓 50 years old, so I鈥檓 trying to change my career into something that will take me into my 60s.鈥濃擯eter MainoConcerned with today鈥檚 changing world and job opportunities, Peter Maino wanted to ensure that he is able to compete in the job market until he is ready to retire. Realizing that education is key, he has been pursuing a from Adelphi鈥檚 .
Reputation and proximity to his home are only a couple of the reasons why Peter chose Adelphi. And, after he graduates in Spring 2014, he is considering the program and the possibility of making a career change.
Having worked in information technology for about 25 years, which included a 14-year stint at , Peter is knowledgeable about the technical aspects of the industry. Now, he鈥檚 ecstatic about learning the healthcare portion.

鈥淗ealthcare is pretty big these days,鈥 said Peter, who has a 3.98 GPA, two teenage children and whose wife works in Adelphi鈥檚 . 鈥淚鈥檓 50 years old, so I鈥檓 trying to change my career into something that will take me into my 60s.鈥
Currently a business analyst for , Peter provides technical support for users of Clarity PPM, a portfolio and project management application that helps companies keep track of their investments, budgets and the time allocated to them. On an average day, he is in constant communication with colleagues in the United Kingdom, India and the United States, and he鈥檚 well versed in recent technological advances.
鈥淎nything they are going to talk about technology-wise I wouldn鈥檛 have an issue with,鈥 he said of the healthcare informatics program. 鈥淭he medical side will be new to me.鈥
What鈥檚 also new is that the healthcare informatics program is adding a fully online option. Slated for launch in Fall 2014, the program will enable students from across the country and around the globe to earn the degree online.
Peter, though, prefers the personal attention he receives in the traditional program. 鈥淚 really like the classroom setting,鈥 he said.
