The department hopes that 鈥淚n the Director鈥檚 Cut鈥 will evolve into an听international workshop that brings young international artists to Adelphi to听work along with local students. 鈥淚 think the program is a great opportunity听for Adelphi to train young artists in new media,鈥 says Ross. 鈥淚t will contribute听to the evolution of the form, and arm this new generation with the ability to听say, shout, or sing whatever they want via the options of new media.鈥澨淭he goal of my work is to have students hone their post-production skills听with the goal of creating a short piece and then promoting that piece through听social media,鈥 says Shaheen.
Ross is pioneering yet another digital humanities project that he calls听鈥淪hared Roots.鈥 鈥淚n simplistic terms it will be a social networking site for听ancestors,鈥 he says. 鈥淧eople will post the oldest photo they have of a relative听and then take on the persona of that relative to tell their story. Students as听their relative will interact with other students in a similar role.鈥 Ross has more听ambitious plans for this initiative, with Adelphi 鈥渟tudent-relatives鈥 interacting听with students in foreign countries acting in a similar role. Ross expects the site听to be assembled in the coming months.
