1896 Meets 1776: Adelphi Honors America鈥檚 250th Anniversary

In honor of our nation鈥檚 founding, Adelphi offers students, faculty, staff and the community a unique opportunity to learn, engage with events and become involved in this truly historic year.

Throughout this 250th anniversary year, celebratory events will take place around Long Island and New York state to celebrate our nation鈥檚 founding. At nearby Jones Beach over Memorial Day and Fourth of July weekends, you can experience drone shows, historic reenactments, Revolutionary War encampments and period music.

At many historic sites and state parks, a New York state initiative, , will bring the story of the American Revolution to life. Other local events include:

  • (Countywide): Ongoing events include Revolutionary War reenactments, lectures, Tri-Spy walking tours and the Drowned Meadow Cottage Museum.
  • : Presents 鈥250 Years of Art on Long Island,鈥 exploring the region鈥檚 artistic legacy from the Revolutionary era to the present

Many sites are part of the , highlighting the Culper Spy Ring, which includes spots like Setauket and Port Jefferson.
