Adelphi's 2022 Spirit Weekend, running from October 12–October 16, will offer five days of fun on campus and beyond—and more events than ever before.

On Adelphi's busy campus, there's a place where students, faculty and staff can find a moment for prayer or reflection and meet with others to worship, enjoy a meal or share ideas.

ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ has earned the exceptional achievement of a five-star rating on the Campus Pride Index—a nationally recognized measure of LGBTQ+ friendliness and inclusivity. Campus Pride also chose Adelphi as one of the Top 40 Best of the Best LGBTQ-Friendly Campuses.

Most colleges have programs to get incoming first-year students acquainted with the campus. Adelphi takes that idea one step farther with a program that gets new students acquainted with the University's commitment to serving the surrounding community.

Throughout our 125-year history, many of Adelphi’s women leaders were the only women in the classroom, boardroom or corner office—and had to blaze a trail for the women who followed in their respective fields.

The fall semester kicks off with Welcome Weekend, an opportunity for incoming students to start their journeys and for the Adelphi community to welcome them aboard.

For the past year, a group of Adelphi staffers has been quietly working on building the ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ Staff Council, the first on campus to serve the interests of staff at Adelphi by acting as a liaison between the staff and the University’s executive leadership.

These boards—and their dedicated members—make critical contributions to advancing student success. For example, our Gordon F. Derner School of Psychology Advisory Board launched its first-ever fundraising initiative 10 years ago to help support PhD students from diverse backgrounds. That scholarship fund has since grown to $1.25 million.

Being a graduate student is different from being an undergraduate student.

Adelphi’s communication sciences and disorders program provides a broad range of treatment, care and support to people of myriad linguistic backgrounds—from toddlers to seniors. We are privileged to work with diverse communities across Long Island.

ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ's 22nd annual President's Gala on Saturday, June 11, raised more than $345,000 for the President's Student Success Scholarship, an endowment that has now surpassed $1 million. This year's event at The Garden City Hotel concluded Adelphi's 125th-anniversary celebrations, honoring the University's legacy and those who support its longevity and mission.

There's something different about Swirbul Library: The wall at the entrance, outside the Innovation Center, has gone from blank to brilliant, displaying a stunning mural, courtesy of the Department of Art and Art History, specifically the Mural Arts Workshop class.

Nola Jackson, 59, of Brentwood, New York, was 30 credits away from earning her 120-credit BA in Social Science in Adelphi's College of Professional and Continuing Studies (CPCS) in 2014 when she became ill and was unable to work or attend classes.

ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ has been awarded the 2021 Digital Inclusion Grant from internet and software services provider Kajeet. The grant comes with the provision of free internet connectivity hardware and managed service on Kajeet's platform, Sentinel.

Like many first-year students, Alberto Cruz didn't come to Adelphi with a career planned out. He was from nearby Hicksville, New York, and wanted to stay local. He also knew he wanted to help people. “Coming out of high school, I wanted either to be a nurse or a social worker," he said, adding that Adelphi offered him a scholarship and had strong programs in both fields.

For nearly a decade, accounting students from ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ have helped low-income individuals and families on Long Island prepare their tax returns. The students, working together with Bethpage Federal Credit Union, are part of a nationwide Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program.

For the fourth consecutive year, an ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ student has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Miguel Velasquez, a sophomore in Adelphi’s prestigious Levermore Global Scholars program who is majoring in history in the accelerated 4+1 Scholar Teacher Education Program (STEP), has been selected as a 2021–2022 Newman Civic Fellow.

In 2007, ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ launched Bridges to Adelphi, an award-winning program that helps students on the autism spectrum or who have nonverbal learning disabilities transition to college life and succeed academically and socially.

Admission to ÇÑ×ÓÊÓƵ will continue to be standardized test optional for current high school juniors applying for admission this coming year, recognizing the difficulty of taking SATs or ACTs during the pandemic.
