This is it—our first day of the new academic year! I can feel the energy in the air–new ideas, new people, new opportunities for a fresh start. Welcome to everyone who is joining us for the first time, and welcome back to everyone who is returning. We have so much to look forward to this year.

Thank you to everyone who worked tirelessly over the summer and during these past few weeks to make our transition to this academic year a smooth one. Between registering our students and moving them in, you’ve been busy.

ÌýAs I look ahead to fall, I see that we have many wonderful ways to connect with one another, learn, grow and make a difference.

On Wednesday, we start a new tradition with ourÌýPanther PicnicÌýfor everyone in the community from 11:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. on The Quad (the grass between Earle and Waldo Halls). I hope to see you there, and remember to wear Adelphi brown and gold.Ìý

The picnic is just one of the many events planned for ourÌýOpening Week. This week is also “Game On!” for our fall sports, with many teams in action at home.ÌýÌý.Ìý

Later this week, in myÌýSeptember e-newsletter, you will find more news about upcoming events and opportunities. Watch for these newsletters every month to stay informed about our collective successes, new initiatives, ways you can get involved, and progress towards our goals.Ìý

Last year, we came together to create our strategic plan—Momentum. The plan has been a source of inspiration as we have reached for new heights in fostering student success, taking advantage of our proximity to New York City, pursuing academic excellence, becoming a well-known and highly recognized university and creating a culture of diversity and inclusion. We will continue to work together on these important goals.Ìý

I can’t wait to see where our collective energy, ideas and passion will take us in the year ahead.
