From learning computational thinking and building programs in Python to exploring the basics of Artificial Intelligence, students will develop critical thinking and technical skills while creating and experimenting. Each course encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence—empowering students to understand how technology works and how they can use it to bring their ideas to life.

Courses for Grades 4-8
All classes meet from 9:00²¹³¾â€“12:00±è³¾:
Ever wonder how computers provide solutions to problems in ways you never thought of? Computational thinking is the way humans design computers to provide these solutions, through numeric representations and algorithmic design. Learn how to do just that in this course!
Imagine you could help a computer create anything you wanted— programming aids in achieving just that! In this course, learn about the basic foundations of programming in Python. Understand concepts such as boolean logic, variables, and conditional statements.
In this course, further your Python programming knowledge to design and develop simple programs. Understand concepts such as loops, string formatting/manipulation, and input/output. Prior knowledge of boolean logic, variables, and conditional statements is required if you were not able to join Python I.
We hear about it all the time…Artificial Intelligence, or better known as AI. By diving into the workings of Large Language Models (LLM’s) we can learn to use AI as a tool, rather than a crutch. In this course, learn about the foundations of AI, how to use it, and the precautions you should know.
Instructor
Faith Mock is an Adjunct Professor at ÇÑ×ÓÊÓÆµ. Her academic interest lies in Mathematics and its applications, computations, and theoretical foundations of Computer Science. She is currently pursuing her second Masters Degree in Computer Science and plans to pursue her PhD. Faith is an alumnae, receiving both her B.A. in Mathematics and M.A. in Education here at Adelphi. She has a true passion for learning, teaching, and Education Pedagogy. Her current interest is in fostering a more active learning environment amongst students through inquiry-based learning and question scaffolding. Faith looks forward to her future research and to continue her career as a professor!
